Planning with Standards

Training Description
This interactive training will examine how intertwined developmentally appropriate practices are with early learning standards. All participants will understand what the standards are, what they are not, and how that knowledge best informs instruction to support children’s learning and development.
Learning outcomes
Practitioners will:
• Participants will connect Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) to the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
• Participants will identify how standards support children’s learning and development

Training Description
This training will explore how the developmental areas directly connect to lesson planning for children's academic success. Participants will have time to network with other caregivers to create developmental appropriate activities they can use in their classrooms.

Practitioners will:
• Participants will identify guidelines for developmentally appropriate curriculum & planning
• Participants will network and create activities that are developmentally appropriate for children and connect them to the developmental domains.

This training will explore the benefits of individualizing lesson plans for children using a systematic approach to connect the multiple aspects of planning activities that meet the diverse needs of all children in the classroom.

• Plan developmentally appropriate activities that meet a variety of skill levels

Planning for Mixed Age Groups (FCCH)

In-Service Training Hours – 10 hours
Certificate of completion (in-service hours) will only be awarded if the following items are completed by the participant:
• Attendance for all scheduled training dates
• Meeting all training expectations (see below)
• Submission of the post gains survey/assessment sent after the training
• Achieving an 60% or higher on the survey
If these items are not met, participants may be offered a certificate of attendance with no in-service hours.

Continuing Education Units – 1.0
Registrants requesting CEU's will be required to email a legible and clear government or employer issued ID. A personal photo will not be accepted.
Government or employer issued ID’s can be emailed to Sharon Dennany at sdennany@elcpinellas.org. Include the title of the training you registered for in the email.
Deadline to submit government or employer issued ID is Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm. The deadline will not be extended.
CEU certificates will only be awarded if the following items are completed by the participant:
• Attendance for all scheduled training dates
• Meeting all training expectations (see below)
• Submission of the post gains survey/assessment sent after the training
• Achieving an 80% or higher on the survey
If these items are not met, participants may be offered a certificate of completion (in-service hours) or certificate of attendance (no in-service hours).
CEU’s or formal education (college courses) are required to renew a Florida Staff Credential. This includes credentials earned through the Apprenticeship Program at Pinellas Technical College. Please note that the Apprenticeship program offers a Florida Staff Credential and not a CDA.

Training Expectations
1. Conduct yourself in a professional way:
• Dress appropriately
• Refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking or vaping
• Consider background distractions
2. Be present:
• Attend whole training start to finish
• Video camera should be on
• Sign in using the chat box
3. Participate throughout the trainings:
• Communicate using the chat box
• Speak during large group discussions
• Interact during breakout sessions
• Respond to verbal call outs
4. Complete all required documents:
• Implementation plan - if applicable
• Pre/post training evaluation - if applicable
• Post gains survey/assessment - survey/assessment will be emailed after verification of attendance and participation
• If a survey is not submitted this will affect applicable stipends or receipt of a certificate of completion (in-service hours) or CEU certificate. A certificate of attendance (no in-service hours) may be offered.

Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. policies
• The training will not be accessible 10 minutes after the training start time
• Complete participation is required during the training. If you are driving, it is not possible for you to participate safely and you will be removed from the training.
• If a participant leaves the Zoom training session prior to the end of the training, certificate of completion or CEU credit will not be awarded
• All Zoom trainings will be recorded
